A morning by the lake, a day filled with exploration, family adventures and a quite hour for my vacation reads for summer 2023. These are the hallmarks of my family’s annual summer getaway to the beautiful Adirondack Mountains.
Our days are typically brimming with outdoor escapades, hanging out on the lake, wandering the mountain trails, and exploring all the little mountain towns. But one of my most treasured vacation rituals is heading back to my grandparents’ house after a full day of family adventures.
There, while the kids splash and swim with their cousins in the pool, iced latte in hand, I revel in the bliss of disappearing into a captivating summer book. These moments sitting by the pool or under the trees with Jordan, are the essence of my perfect summer vacation.
Summer reads are a breed all their own. They should be breezy and lighthearted, filled with engaging characters, thrilling plots, and just the right amount of page-turning intrigue. They should be the kind of books that you can dip into poolside, sprawl out with on a hammock, or savor during those peaceful, early morning moments when the world is just waking up.
This year, my kindle is loaded up with an assortment of good summer novels. Each one promises to transport me to new places, introduce me to fascinating people, and keep me happily entertained as I enjoy my Adirondack retreat.
